WICHITA, Kan. - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The lights of the Kansas Star Arena are set to shine brightly behind the bucking chutes on Saturday night March 28th for Championship Bull Riding’s Kansas Star Chute Out. Four time World Champion bull rider Tuff Hedeman is transforming the Kansas Star arena to showcase a showdown between the top 5 contenders for the CBR World Championship.

With only 3.5 points separating the top two bull riders, the action takes place on Saturday, March 28, at 8 p.m. Three rounds of heart pounding action will get underway in a tournament style competition where the riders are challenged to get on three bulls to win their share of the $30,000 prize money. Sanctioned by Championship Bull Riding (CBR), the Mulvane bull riding event is the eleventh stop on the nationally televised Mahindra Road to Cheyenne Tour.

Arriving early in Kansas is CBR and Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s (PRCA) reigning World Champion Sage Steele Kimzey, Strong City, Oklahoma, who as a rookie won over $500,000 riding bulls in 2014. Twenty year old Kimzey comes into Kansas with his own brand of March Madness after adding over $62,000 to his bank account last week when he won RodeoHouston.

He will be challenged by the #1 ranked bull rider in the CBR World Standings, Cody Teel from Kountze, Texas. Teel, who has never won the CBR World Championship gold buckle, has won two event titles this year and will be riding to keep his #1 ranking.

On the heels of Teel is another youngster on fire in the rodeo community. Eighteen year old Wyatt Rogers, Rose, Oklahoma, is the #2 ranked CBR rider getting his start winning $43,000 last October during his professional debut.

Appearing in Mulvane for the first time is recently retired United States Army sergeant Juan Alonzo from Weslaco, Texas. Juan, who spent five years in the military, including a tour in Afghanistan, kept in bull riding condition while overseas with the help of his platoon. Although classified as a rookie rider in his professional bull riding career, Alonzo has turned in solid performances in the first few events of the year, Alonzo has earned his top 10 ranking one bull at a time.

CBR is known for its action-packed performances that keep fans on the edge of their seats. That is largely due to the influence of four-time world champion bull rider Tuff Hedeman who coordinates every element and attends to the smallest details. From having premier bulls matched up with all-star riders, to upbeat entertainment and enthusiastic fans, the Kansas Star CBR Chute Out has grown second to none.

Bringing their best to Mulvane, the stock contractors and bull breeders will also be competing in the CBR Million Dollar Bull Team Challenge, where stock contractors enter three bulls during the first two rounds of competition. The owner whose bulls have the highest total score will receive $20,000 of a $50,000 purse. Local stock contractors Brad Vogele and Clark Sanders both have teams competing.

In addition, the Tuff Hedeman Shootout offers bull riders the advantage to accumulate significant points needed to qualify for the CBR World Finals, scheduled for July 21-22 in Wyoming, which coincides with the historical Cheyenne Frontier Days celebration. The bull rider holding the top standing position at the completion of the World Finals will be crowned the 2015 CBR World Champion and receive a $100,000 bonus.
