March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- The red carpet will soon be rolled out for the 2015 Mississippi Music Awards which will take place April 25th at the Fine Arts Auditorium in Senatobia, MS. Red carpet arrivals will begin at 12pm with the show starting at 1pm.

This year’s show will be hosted by 7 time Emmy Award Winning recording star and comedian, David L Cook. Cook who was born in Pascagoula, MS is most well known as one of the funniest comedians to take to the stage. However, many will also remember that he was the baby of the legendary Southern Gospel singing group, The Cook Family Singers. David grew up on stage since the age of five and even called the Grand Ole Orpy his second home as a child. Touring with many of the most legendary performers of our time including Johnny and June Cash, David's family is grounded deep in the music history books. His great uncle was none other than four time Academy Award winner, Johnny Mercer (Moon River). Other notables from his family were gospel singer Johnny Cook who sang as a part of the Happy Goodmans and actress and comedian Carol Cook. (Sixteen Candles)

Cook said, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity to go to Mississippi and host the awards for this year. Mississippi has a great deal of talent that has yet to be tapped into. I feel very fortunate to have been born in a state that I feel holds some of the most awesome talent in the world and contrary to popular belief I didn't have to marry any of my cousins!"

The Mississippi Music Foundation was formed to help artists understand and to nurture their musical talents and to prepare them for a place on the stage. Thousands of artists are cast by the wayside because they do not have mentors and people who care enough to take out the time to help them. Organizations like the MMF not only take out the time, but they invest back into these young artists.

Sourou Jones a representative for the Mississippi Music Foundation said, "Through collaborative efforts the Mississippi Music Foundations works to build and strengthen the music community of Mississippi. Through our initiatives such as a money matching program, a Mississippi Youth Orchestra and radio station artist stories we provide our artists with expertise, networking and various support systems to assist them in their mission to keep the birthplace of music alive. The Mississippi Music Awards is a culmination of all our efforts; it is our day to show the world the future of music. In looking back we wanted to recognize two people. One is a lifetime achievement award for the man that took the blues out of the delta, B.B. King. His music in some way has inspired everyone. We also wanted to highlight an individual that serves as a guide to current and future artist’s success. In creating the Mississippi Marvel Award, we wanted the award to be Prestigious and everything Mississippi. We are honored to not only present this award to David L. Cook, but to have him host our ceremony. He has survived the blues that so many of our artist write about to exemplify excellence. Winning 7 Emmy Awards to go along with the numerous other award wins and nominations, David demonstrates the fortitude that must accompany talent to keep our artists in the business. As he continues to have the career that leads to life time achievement awards, this is our way to say "thank you" for holding the torch and motivating future generations."

The partnership between Cook and the Mississippi Music Foundation is most appropriate as Cook himself is the executive president of the Artists Music Guild which helps teach and mentor artists from all over the world. This is why guests of the awards show will see model Sarah Painter who is the face of Steinway Piano as the trophy model for the evening as well as the face and spokesperson for the youth in the AMG. This in many ways fits right into Cook's mission statement which makes it all the more special that they have included him into their night of celebration.

The Artists Music Guild has announced that it will open its program to include some of the Mississippi Music Award winners into it's 2015 AMG Heritage Awards to take place November 14, 2015
