Canadian Maxx Ebenal leads 2015 championship by scoring 'Maxximum' amount of points

REGINA, Saskatchewan - March 24, 2015 - PRLog -- BlackArts Racing driver Maxx Ebenal arrived in China one week before the first two rounds of the 2015 Asian Formula Renault 2.0 championship ready to prove a point. He was able to prove that point by winning both rounds back to back, scoring enough points to lead the championship.

Ebenal quickly adapted to the brand new FR2.0/13 car during practice early in the week, always being at the top of the timesheets.
Saturday morning started with a 25 minute qualifying session which would take the driver's two best times to decide their starting positions for the two races. Ebenal was first out of the pits and set the fastest time within two laps. Due to a caution flag in the last corner of the track, Maxx chose to come into the pits very early in the session to save his tires for the race. While Ebenal was waiting in the pits, another driver was able to steal the fastest time by .011 of a second.  Maxx decided not to go back out on track to better his qualifying time, which could consequently wear out the tires even more. At the end of qualifying, Maxx would secure a 2nd place start for race #1 and Pole position for race #2.

Saturday afternoon the grandstands were over-filled with 35,000+ fans waiting to watch the first race of the AFR season. Maxx, in his BlackArts Racing formula renault, started in second position for race #1.  After the start, Maxx followed the leader around for two laps waiting for the right moment to make his move. On lap 2 of the race, Maxx was able to take advantage of the leader, who was slow out of the first corner. Once Maxx was in the lead, he was able to build a comfortable gap between himself and 2nd place, for the rest of the race. Maxx crossed the finish line in first place, earning the maiden victory of the 2015 season.
The second race of the weekend would be held late Sunday afternoon. The BlackArts Racing formula renault would start on pole position. Maxx did not have his best start, and lost the lead going into corner 1. Two corners later chaos broke out when the 4th place driver outbroke himself. "I saw a blue car in my left mirror coming up WAY too fast, so I quickly decided to slow my car and avoid the mess", says Ebenal.
After avoiding the wreck on the first lap, Maxx was able to maintain 2nd position until a safety car was deployed on lap 3. Surprisingly, the safety car was only out for half a lap. Two laps after the safety car, Maxx made a very aggressive move into turn 7 to successfully take the lead. Maxx handled the pressure from 2nd place for the rest of the 12 lap race, ultimately crossing the finish line in 1st position.

"If I was being honest, I am a bit suprised by our results this weekend. I don't this it has quite sunk in yet, what we have achieved, in BlackArts Racing's debut race weekend. Even though I came into the race weekend with confidence and high expectations, I didn't imagine winning both races. I am now even more confident in my abilities, and I am looking forward to whatever opportunites come next for me." says Ebenal after his two wins.

Already off to a great start, Maxx is looking for more partners to join him as he battles to be the 2015 AFR Champion. The next rounds of AFR will be in Malaysia at the Sepang F1 circuit held on April 25-26/2015.
