March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- WHAT: The ancient Maya civilization is renowned for its impressive cities and sophisticated written language. Surprisingly, its long-lasting contributions to the culinary world are often overlooked. In fact, the flavors of the Maya are alive and well and living all around us. From hot chocolate to corn tortillas, and guacamole, we have the Maya to thank for many of our favorite foods. To celebrate the Maya’s long-lasting influence, the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) is teaming up with the Museum of Science (MOS) on Friday, April 10th, 2015 for “Food of the Ancient Maya – Alive and Well and Living All Around Us” designed to entertain and educate students about the Maya’s impact on the culinary world.

From 6:00PM to 8:00PM The Museum of Science and BCAE join forces for a special lecture, demonstration and tasting. The class will kick off with a Museum of Science educator sharing his extensive knowledge about methods, which the Mayas invented and implemented, to produce and sustain foods for their growing civilization. Students will then have the unique opportunity to learn how to cook Maya-inspired dishes in their own kitchen from Rahul Moolgaonkar, Executive Chef of Wolfgang Puck Catering at the Museum of Science. That’s not all, Taza Chocolate will share their tips on how they make their delicious stone ground chocolate inspired by the Mayas.
