MetaValue team-up with award winning Youth Charity OnSide

LONDON - March 19, 2015 - PRLog -- London, 19 March 2015: Change and growth specialists, MetaValue is pleased to announce it is teaming up with OnSide Youth Zones, a charity developing 21st century youth facilities nationally, to help local authorities create a stronger and more sustainable youth offer for young people in the future.

Leading on the Cabinet Office’s ‘Delivering Differently for Young People’ (DDYP) programme with Birmingham City Council, Surrey County Council and Telford & Wrekin Council, MetaValue has engaged OnSide to provide its expertise on creating a relevant, modern and sustainable youth provision model.

The collaboration between MetaValue and OnSide will help local authorities explore a range of alternative models for delivery of youth services that include both in-house and arms-length models. The aim will be to help rethink the way services and support positive outcomes for young people.

Meeta Thareja, Co-founder MetaValue said, “An increasing number of local authorities today are exploring new ways of delivering services. We are proud to be associated with programmes that are fuelling this innovation in the public sector such as ‘Delivering Differently for Young People’ and the ‘Mutuals Support Programme’, both run and funded by the Cabinet Office. We see our role as unlocking potential – in staff, communities, the service itself and the wider organisation. Our aim therefore is to support local authorities address immediate financial priorities and also set the foundation for sustainable services in the long-term. We are delighted to combine our strengths with OnSide at this time of re-shaping of youth services across the country.”

Kathryn Morley, Chief Executive at OnSide Youth Zones said: “There is no doubt that the impact of the austerity measures has been felt far and wide across the country and local authorities have unfortunately had to face the brunt of delivering these cuts. Many are now having to reassess their service delivery models, to set the foundations for the future.

“As an organisation, OnSide is unapologetic about creating facilities that are solely for use by young people. We believe Youth Zones send a clear message to young people – we value you, you are important. Working with MetaValue to support local authorities to ensure that services for young people are sustainable in the future, is undoubtedly a positive step forward in a time of severe budget cuts.

About OnSide Youth Zones:

OnSide Youth Zones is a national charity with a mission; to build a network of affordable and high quality Youth Zones across the country, transforming the lives of young people, by giving them somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.

OnSide aims to inspire young people to lead healthier and more positive lives, raising their aspirations so they grow up to become happy, caring and responsible citizens. For just 50p per session young people between the age of 8 and 19 (25 for those with a disability) can access over 20 activities each evening at a Youth Zone, occupying their bodies and minds in a fun way, while learning new skills and socialising in a safe, positive way.

Each Youth Zone operates according to OnSide’s model of best practice, but is run as an independent charity by local, private-sector led boards with the support of Local Authorities, a strong management team and army of local volunteers. Open 7 evenings per week and all day every school holiday; Youth Zones are open when schools are closed.

Established in 2008, the OnSide Youth Zone charity has made significant progress. To date five new Youth Zones have been built and the OnSide Youth Zone Ntweork currently has over 15,000 members and 700 volunteers. OnSide’s vision is to open 20 fully operational Youth Zones by 2020.
