Follow on Google News | THE HAPPYS Explores Bad Relationships, Closeted Gay Actors & LA’s Massive Food Truck SceneFeature film project launches Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign on March 25; actors Janeane Garofalo, Melissa McBride and Stephen Guarino attached to comedic drama.
By: The Happys LLC ABOUT THE FILM Twenty-one year old Tracy walks in on her budding movie star boyfriend Mark having sex with a man and decides to leave him. After assessing her limited options, she returns to Mark with a deal—if he agrees to marry her, she’ll forget the incident ever happened. Mark accepts her terms, but neither fully understands the sacrifices they have to make. As their relationship deteriorates, Tracy’s world opens up as she befriends the quirky residents in her Los Feliz neighborhood and immerses herself in LA’s food truck scene. As Tracy discovers her sense of self and true passion for cooking, she is a catalyst that forces everyone around her to grow and connect in unforeseen ways. CAST While casting is currently underway for leads Tracy and Mark, THE HAPPYS team has already cast some key supporting roles. Emmy nominee Janeane Garofalo (Netflix’s upcoming original series Wet Hot American Summer, AMC’s Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce) will play Luann, a former child star who left the business, bought lots of property and has become the unofficial “mayor” of Los Feliz. Melissa McBride (fan favorite Carol Peletier on AMC’s The Walking Dead) plays Krista, Mark’s hard-charging talent manager. Stephen Guarino (ABC’s Happy Endings, BEAR CITY, BEAR CITY 2: THE PROPOSAL) will play Jonathan, a magazine reporter who may be handed the scoop of the year. FILMMAKERS Writers/Directors Tom Gould and John Serpe have been friends for 20 years. Gould received his master’s degree in film production from the University of Southern California, where he was awarded the Jack Nicholson Scholarship for Excellence in Directing. Serpe won the first Production Grant awarded by the Los Angeles Film Festival for the screenplay NOTHING MEN. Together, they wrote and directed the award-winning PSA Playground. THE HAPPYS marks their feature film debut.
