BROOKLYN, N.Y. - March 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Lets face it, for centuries people have always been on the move, whether migrating for a better climate or simply exploring uncharted territories. In modern day, we move for many different reasons, whether it is job, family, or housing related. The bottom line is, Americans move around a lot. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, around 14% of the population move annually. That’s an estimated 40 million people relocating in a single year.

Moving is an import event in anyone’s life, and it can be both exciting and exasperating. It can become time consuming, often times requiring a lot of effort and energy. Most people will have a laundry list of important decisions they take to move, up to the first night in their new residence. Making the decision to hire professional movers or doing it your self is the top determination on mostly everyone’s list. If you fall in the latter part of the population of the non-professional movers, hiring a moving company to accommodate all of your needs is an essential and necessary initial step you will need to take in your relocation process. They are vastly skilled in doing most of the work a lot of people are not accustomed to doing. This includes, proper packaging and handling of your fragile and delicate items. They will safely load and unload your prized possessions that are for the most part heavy and tough to handle. Not to mention their ability to properly arrange and drive the trucks. These are just to name the few reasons movers will take a lot of stress off you and will play an important role in your relocation process.

Another important topic of great consideration and speculation is undoubtedly choosing the date for your move. Which is cheaper, more convenient, and easier are important factors to consider. Do seasons play an important role? Should you move at the beginning or end of the month? On a weekday or weekend? There is not necessarily a right or wrong day to move, but you should carefully consider your options before making the decision that best suits your needs.

Summertime is considered a very active season for moving companies. In fact, more than 50% of all moving jobs take place during the summer. This means moving companies, trucks and crew are tied up and busy. If you are planning your move during this period, plan far in advance with the company of your choice to secure your time and space. If you are moving during off-peak seasons you should still choose your company a week or two in advance as most trustworthy movers stay relatively busy year round. Another important factor to take into consideration is the time of the month, as a large amount of moves are scheduled at the beginning and end of the month. This is mainly due to the rent of apartments. In order to possibly get a better rate and availability, if possible, try to have your move booked for the middle of the month. The next decision and equally important consideration is whether to book your move on a weekday or a weekend. They both have their pros and cons that should be reviewed, respectively. If you are like most people, you are likely to work a nine to five job and have off on weekends. A weekday move will require you to take a day or two off, potentially resulting in a pay cut. Despite the fact, weekends are considered peak time, due to higher volume of people choosing to move on weekends. Resulting in a weekday move advantage, potentially offering cost benefits. Persons with younger children and who are moving locally can also benefit from a weekday move, because the kids will be in school. Not having to keep an eye on them will make the move easier and less stressful. However, if you are not moving locally, a weekday move can potentially affect your child, causing them to possibly fall behind and miss important assignments. If you are moving into an apartment complex or a high-rise, most people will be at work on a weekday. This will give you more privacy and less elevator and hallway traffic. The movers will have higher odds of easily navigating your belongings to your new apartment. Possibly getting the move done faster and more efficiently. Weekday move can also result in fewer cars on the street offering imminent parking for easy and quick unloading.  Traffic concerns can and often times will affect you regardless if it’s a weekday or a weekend. This maybe avoided depending on the time of day you book your move. The time of the move not only matters to you, but to the movers as well, as things like traffic jams can really slow them down.

It is evident, that there are a lot of factors to consider when planning your move. Most importantly the decisions you make should work out to your best advantage. Creating a blueprint for your move will no doubt give you control and make the move to your new home go more smoothly.
