Here Comes Spring! -Linda Mossman

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. - March 18, 2015 - PRLog -- After what seems like the longest winter in memory – and what is now the most historic winter on record, it couldn't be more exciting that spring is finally here!

Here are a few ideas for homeowners to help make the most of the warmer weather - it's time to put some spring in our step!

• Start spring cleaning. Winter is dirty and messy. Grub and grime gets tracked in, discarded items sit in garages and basements, and we don't go out much to clean things up. With snowbanks receding, we have the opportunity and space to put unused or unwanted items out by the curb. Or better yet, contact a trash removal service to have a dumpster delivered to your driveway. Unburden your home of all of its winter buildup and turn your attention to grimy windows, dirty floors, and even that junk drawer. Spring is the time of year to start fresh.

• Have a yard sale. You don't have to simply throw away unused belongings. Spring is a great time to hold a yard sale. People are emerging from their homes after being inside all winter and some of them will be looking for a bargain. You can take the money you earn and use it to spruce up your yard.

• Get outside. This winter, in particular, did a number on the exterior of homes. You may have a lot to do to clean up your property, from gutters to lawn work to paint touch up.  After a winter of being virtually trapped indoors, it'll feel good to take advantage of the fresh spring air this season. Don't forget those bright, seasonal plantings. Nothing says spring like a little color in your front yard.

• Buy something new. Hit the home decorating stores and treat yourself to a few new items that reflect the season. You don't have to spend a lot of money. Sometimes a new doormat, some fresh accent pillows, kitchen towels, or a new vase with cut flowers can bring a sense of renewal to your tired winter décor.

Spring and summer hold lots of opportunity to enjoy your home and yard.  Let's emerge from that winter cocoon and reinvent ourselves and our homes.

Remember, the busiest home selling season is now, so if you or someone you know is thinking of selling this year, please share these tips to help prep for the spring market!  Contact me if you need any referrals for landscaping, repair work, trash removal or staging.   It's time to get motivated!
