BOSTON - March 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Quayshaun, Valerie and Malachi have found their futures. The three local students – all featured speakers at Trinity Boston Foundation’s BOSTONIANS FOR YOUTH Gala on Wed., April 8, 2015, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza  – will share stories of participating in the Foundation’s education and character enrichment programs and finding their foothold to success.

Their stories illustrate the Foundation’s efforts to create and support life-giving relationships and strong, safe and healthy communities in which youth can thrive. Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, who consistently endorses Trinity Boston Foundation’s youth development work, is serving as honorary chair of the gala and has accepted an invitation to the event.

“We must do all that we can to help young people in Boston reach their full potential,” says Mayor Walsh. “Organizations like Trinity Boston Foundation serve as an anchor for our youth, providing a local space where they can grow and thrive.”

The youth and families served by the Foundation face many challenges, including poverty, systemic racism, exposure to violence, housing and food insecurity as well as public safety and justice systems that unwittingly contribute to a school-to-prison pipeline.

“We are helping to build the next generation of strong young leaders that Boston needs,” says Trinity Boston Foundation Executive Director Louise Burnham Packard. “By working with young people to help them shape their values, develop grit and resilience and increase their ability to set and achieve goals, the Foundation affirms that their lives are precious and their potential is unbounded. Certainly, Boston cannot be a great city without their investment and input. ”
