Expansion at London's The Modern Pantry is powered by upgrading to a new TISSL EPoS solution

MILTON KEYNES, U.K. - March 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Six months after their migration to a new EPoS solution from hospitality technology provider TISSL, the management of London's The Modern Pantry restaurant have talked about their decision to invest in new technology and paid tribute to the business benefits they are enjoying.

The St John’s Square, Clerkenwell restaurant opened in 2008 to critical acclaim.  General Manager Nick Falla joined the team two years ago.  He explains: “At the outset, the team selected an EPoS system from Bleep.  However, once we’d decided last year to open a second site this spring/summer, we took a hard look at our technology.  We felt it would be difficult to expand with our existing EPoS system and we needed something more sophisticated and scalable that could grow as we grow.”

“Last September we migrated to TISSL to make ready for our expansion. Before doing so, we looked at the market and had demonstrations of a number systems including TISSL.  We visited some of TISSL’s restaurant clients and it became clear that TISSL was the right system for us.”

TISSL EPoS is working successfully for The Modern Pantry Clerkenwell and will be rolled out at the Finsbury Square venue later this year.  Whilst the new venue will be of a similar size and format to Clerkenwell, its open-plan space lends itself to a larger tapas-style bar.  “This will make the place feel sophisticated but relaxed; in fact, ideal for city clients,” observes Falla.

The new software has been installed on five PC-based touchscreen terminals, with one dedicated to shop sales and the remainder located across the restaurant floor. “The hardware fits in well and is quite sleek.  It’s fast and reliable too and, if any issues do occur, we get great support from the TISSL guys.”

“Installation and training went well and were pretty quick,” says Nick Falla.  “A lot of things have improved in the past 6 months.  TISSL is certainly more service-focused than Bleep.  We prefer the user interface too; it’s very easy to make changes on the fly, say if something changes mid-service and we need to remove or add a dish to the menu.”

He continues: “Importantly too, we’re saving waiter time.  The TISSL on-screen user interface is more spacious and clearer than what we had before and navigation is slicker.  Staff now place orders and create checks with fewer clicks and are very comfortable with something that’s faster and more streamlined.”

Another popular TISSL feature is the function of diner seating.  This shows a live map of the restaurant floor.  “Waiters don’t have to run over to the staff member on the pass with a physical docket to say where people are sitting,” explains Falla.  “It’s all done by the system.”

As General Manager, Nick Falla relies upon the reports and business intelligence he gets from the new system.  “Power and flexibility of financial reporting is one of TISSL’s greatest benefits.  I can pinpoint anything in the business, analyse trends and look at best-selling dishes.  Each night our sales are reconciled and signed off by duty manager then passed straight to our Accountant without him needing to import data into an Excel spreadsheet.”

“After just six months, we’re already getting business benefits, and we expect more as we get more into the system.  It will certainly add up to a positive cost of ownership from using TISSL EPoS,” Nick Falla concludes.
