Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Nominates James Skidmore as Man of the Year for its Fundraising Campaign

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - March 16, 2015 - PRLog -- James Skidmore, Manager, The BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant (http://www.brickhousebrewery.com/), and Chairman, Alive After Five Music & Street Festival in Patchogue, has been nominated as the “Man of the Year” by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the organization’s fundraising campaign, which begins March 19.

The “Man of the Year” nomination is an intense 10-week fundraising campaign that is geared to bring awareness of the issues involving blood cancers and — if it comes to fruition — will bring the possibility of national attention to LLS’ Long Island chapter and to the Patchogue community. The candidates compete in honor of children who are local blood cancer survivors, the Boy & Girl of the Year. The top local fundraisers in the county win the national titles.

So far, these leaders have helped LLS invest more than $1 billion in research and development of breakthrough therapies. The funds raised through Man & Woman of the Year are also used for free blood cancer information, education and support; to support patients in their communities through the group’s 61 chapters across the U.S. and Canada; to drive policies that accelerate the development and approval of new treatments; and to advocate for blood cancer survivors and their families, helping patients navigate their cancer treatments and ensuring that they have access to quality, affordable and coordinated care.
