RALEIGH, N.C. - March 16, 2015 - PRLog -- Raleigh, N.C. (March 16, 2015) – Community Workforce Solutions, Inc. (http://www.communityworkforcesolutions.com/) (CWS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment, celebrated 50 years of changing lives and communities on February 28 at the Chef’s Academy in Morrisville. The event raised nearly $14,000 for CWS to purchase commercial-grade kitchen equipment for a new food service training program.

The Chef’s Academy culinary students prepared a three course meal for the celebration, and guests enjoyed live music by local artist Victoria Lee. Gregg Hamm, chef and owner of Café 121 in Sanford, and the new downtown Raleigh restaurant P.G. Werth’s was one of the guest speakers at the event.

“As we continue to celebrate and reflect on our history, we are looking forward to the next 50 years of providing opportunities for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment,” said Roger McGee, president and executive director of CWS. “Adding a food service training program is yet another way that CWS will continue to support individuals in our community, and the new kitchen will also serve as a tool to incorporate life skills such as cooking and nutritious eating into vocational training.”

Community Workforce Solutions serves approximately 1,000 individuals annually through vocational evaluations, job placement, coaching services, and pre-vocational skills training in a six-county area of North Carolina including Vance, Warren, Granville, Franklin, Durham and Wake.
