PITTSBURGH - March 12, 2015 - PRLog -- MICRO NIGHT March 17th 6pm-8pm

PRESENTED INFORMATION:

“Learning Around the World” Featured Countries:  Ireland, Kenya, South America, Germany, China, Russia, Italy, Mexico, Australia, Japan, United States, and many more.

Verona, PA, March 17, 2015 – Imagine Penn Hills School Of Entrepreneurship’s Micro Society will be hosting a Mirco Night.

(Imagine Penn Hills holds the proud distinction of being the first MicroSociety school to open with only a Kindergarten to Second Grade cohort of students. Our school family might be young, but the imaginations and hopes of our students are gigantic. We’re pursuing ambitious goals to create a joyful mini-society in our school, that will make learning relevant and fun, and will help our young people become good decision-makers both now and in their future lives.)

You will witness students doing his or her job in our MicroSociety.  Also, all students have been learning about a country of their Venture/Agency’s choice. They have investigated the customs, traditions, and culture of that Nation. All products and services are focused on this special country. These activities are aligned to our PA Common Core Standards Based Curriculum.

WHAT IS MICROSOCIETY:

A MicroSociety school is a K-8 learning environment. The innovative concept was created in 1967 as one teacher’s effort to restructure his classroom into an academically challenging and interactive place to motivate students to want to learn and succeed. Dr. George Richmond, then a rookie teacher in New York City, introduced the idea of creating a functioning miniature society into his classroom as a tool to bring relevance to leaning and to teach individual responsibility. He discovered that even the most disadvantaged children realized their potential to succeed when school was made relevant to their daily lives.

A MicroSociety school puts learning theory into practice throughout the school daily. Incorporating real-world experiences into basic curriculum helps students apply what they learn in the classroom to real life and helps teachers and principals transcend the “stand and deliver” daily routine. By making learning relevant, kids not only want to be in school, they want to succeed.

Imagine Penn Hills School Of Entrepreneurship is unlike any other k-5 (soon k-8) school in the region providing a hands-on, engaging program designed to bring entrepreneurial and economic concepts alive for students. The lessons related to the core elementary school curriculum of science, math, social studies, and language arts will incorporate the basic economic and entrepreneurial concepts.
