TPSL welcome Temple United FC as expansion side
Temple United FC become the latest addition to Texas Premier Soccer League
"Temple United FC are a welcome addition to the league," said TPSL league President Brendan Keyes.
"With their proximity to Austin, they are ideally placed to set up a Central Texas rivalry with our current Austin side. They are also centrally located in the state to reach most of the participating teams so will find it easy to travel to and from games."
"Our league is growing and we welcome new start up clubs and currently running organisations. Our aim is simply to create a league that helps players play at a high enough level that they can perhaps take the next step to professional soccer. We are realistic enough to understand that building to the next level takes time and that's what we plan to do, keep on building. Bringing teams like Temple United FC in allows us, and them, to do that."
"We are Temple United FC," commented Temple United FC owner Jeremiah Connelly, "A new semi pro team in the Texas Premier Soccer League, the highest level of competition in the state and sanctioned by US Club Soccer. We will be holding pre-registered tryouts on: April 5th, May 3rd, and, June 7th. The tryouts will be held at the Lion's Park Soccer Field and will be open to the public for viewing and we encourage anyone who is interested in watching to come out and see us."
"We are also looking for candidates for a head coaching position and have a scheduled friendly with the Houston Hurricanes on July 25th, also at Lion's Park. Anyone interested in the coaching position, with or without certifications, can inquire via email through our website at www.templeunitedfc.com. All other general inquiries or sponsorship interest can contact us via the website."
"We look forward to providing the City of Temple, the State of Texas and US Soccer an increase in competition and good, committed players and team members (staff) who may have been previously overlooked."
"We believe in our motto "Greatness Through Humble Beginnings" and plan to stand by it every step of the way. Most importantly, we believe in our city and its growth." finished off the new owner.
Both men recently met with City of Temple Mayor Danny Dunn, who appears to like the idea of a minor league soccer team in the city, “I support the need of this team in the city and feel really excited about its future." said the mayor.
TPSL will finish off its current season on March 21st with the Championship Final between Houston Hurricanes and Austin Real Cuauhtémoc in Houston. Temple United FC will kick off their playing season in September with the start of the new season.
