The Yard School of Art at MAM Voted Favorite Adult Art Class and Favorite Art Camp

2015 JerseyArts.com People's Choice Awards / Spring and SummerART Registration Now Open

MONTCLAIR, N.J. - March 6, 2015 - PRLog -- The ballots were cast and the votes tallied. Now, the Montclair Art Museum (MAM) is thrilled to announce that its Yard School of Art was named “Favorite Adult Art Class” and “Favorite Art Camp” in the 2015 Annual JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards. The Museum also ranked among the top as “Favorite Art Museum.” For the second year in a row, the awards competition, which takes place annually to pay tribute to the work of NJ’s vital, vibrant, and diverse arts organizations, saw a record number of nominees. Additionally, nearly 15,000 votes were cast for NJ arts organizations across 16 categories.

“We’re so pleased the Yard School of Art once again gained recognition for its excellence,” said Lora Urbanelli, MAM director. “It is an honor that we do not take lightly. The People’s Choice Awards are as much about what we give to our community as it is about what they give back to us. We are so humbled by this outpouring of support.”

The Montclair Art Museum was one of more than 100 arts organizations and downtown arts districts nominated for this year’s Awards—the largest number of nominees the Awards has received since its creation in 2008. Nominees for the People’s Choice Awards were chosen by their peers through the Jersey Arts Marketers network, which is made up of hundreds of nonprofit arts groups across the state.

“The People’s Choice Awards allows us to honor our state’s incomparable cultural community and highlight the passion of its supporters,” said Adam Perle, President & CEO of ArtPride New Jersey Foundation, the statewide arts service organization that coordinates the annual awards. “The amazing amount of nominees and votes attests to the incredible impact the arts have on the daily lives of New Jerseyans.”

Public voting in the 2015 Annual JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards began January 8, 2015 and ran through February 19, 2015. Winners will be honored at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism, held each year at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.
