Blackburst Entertainment announces launch of ProPlates, royalty-free, chroma key background plates

ORLANDO, Fla. - March 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Blackburst Entertainment LLC announces the product launch of Proplates, and online, royalty-free, chroma key background plate store, giving editors and compositors instant access to high quality, real world, video background plates.

ProPlates is intended to fill a gap in the availability of quality background plates online. Common chroma key background plates found online are either poorly executed, computer generated virtual sets or still frames of environments that were not shot with the intention of being used for a background plate. ProPlates creator, Walter Lowe, set out to create this background plate library from scratch, only including video backgrounds that were specifically shot to serve as background plates. The process includes setting up actual interview scenes or host standup scenes with appropriate locations and lighting, then removing the stand-in talent and recording the out of focus backgrounds.

Production options include multiple angles of the same setup to allow editors to cut from to tighter or wider shots with the same setup, and multiple aperture options to allow the editor to ‘dial in’ the amount of background defocus without having to apply artificial defocus using digital blur tools. All our ProStandard level products and above offer production details to allow vfx technicians to perfectly match the foreground green screen shot to the background plate. Information such as focal length, focus distance, lens orientation, aperture, frame rate and color sampling is available to our customers in getting a great composite.
