Bruce Lipsey of Epstein, Lipsey & Clifford, P.C. quoted in Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

HANOVER, Mass. - March 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Attorney Bruce Lipsey of Epstein, Lipsey & Clifford, P.C. a full service law firm with offices throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Boston, was quoted in the January 8^th edition of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in an article titled “No counsel fees for state supplement of SSI award.”

The article addressed the ruling by a U.S. magistrate judge that a Springfield, Massachusetts attorney was not entitled to additional attorney’s fees for the state-funded portion of a client’s award of past-due Supplemental Security Income benefits.

Lipsey weighs in on the subject, expressing concern that attorneys handling such cases are being “cheated” out of a percentage of their fees, while acknowledging the magistrate’s unease over the federal government acting as the agent for the state SSI program in apportioning attorney’s fees.

Lipsey, who practices Social Security disability law, is a frequent guest instructor at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education on workers’ compensation issues. He received his law degree from Suffolk Law School.

He is a member of the Plymouth and Norfolk County Bar Associations and the workers’ compensation sub-committee of the Massachusetts Bar Association.   Lipsey formerly served as the Chairman of the Massachusetts Bar Association Sub-Committee on Workers' Compensation. He lives in Sharon, MA with his wife Marcie and their two sons.
