TORONTO - March 5, 2015 - PRLog -- After years of violent misogynist lyrics Eminem has finally been called to task by members of the hip hop community in a charge lead by Toronto rapper and self-anointed hip hop suffragette Mandy Mayhem (Mandy May Cheetham). In honour of the International Women's Day theme #makeithappen Mayhem is taking on misogyny in rap, and starting at the top of the food chain.

Considered to be one of the best rappers to ever grace the mic - Eminem's recent performance in his shady xv cypher had the rap community shaking its head at his over-the-top misogynist lyrics - in particular the following:

I may fight for gay rights especially if they dyke / more of a knockout than Janay Rice / Play nice / bitch / I'll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice like Ray Rice / in broad daylight / in plain sight of the elevator surveillance / till her head is banging on the railing / then celebrate with the Ravens. ~ Eminem, Shady XV Cypher

Mayhem says: ' I felt strongly that I had to respond to this because of the apathy with which the rap community responded. Everyone was just saying 'that's Eminem' . . . 'that's what he does'. After watching with glee at his skill several times I realized that I had even become complacent to his violent lyrics, but things have changed in the last six months - feminism is back in a big way, and we can't allow this bullying to continue. I felt like I had a responsibility to represent and to speak for all of the women who have felt violated by his attacks...because I have the skill to speak his language.'

Mayhem does not consider herself the battle rapping type - she gained some serious respect from performing with former Pharcyde members Fatlip and Slimkid3 - who are not exactly the battling type either - and from her three-peat at Toronto's Hip Hop Karaoke - a not-to-be-sneezed at yearly male-dominated competition judged by rap legends like Das EFX and Lords of the Underground, and has performed at such legendary venues as B.B. King's in NY, The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles, The Social in London, UK, and The Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto. She has since moved from the karaoke world and has released four singles and a video for her track What's Up?! (Where My Bitches At?) whose call to action is to 'Turn the word bitch into a permanent term of endearment.'

Here is - an exclusive sneak peak of Mandy Mayhem's eloquent and ferocious response to Eminem's woman-bashing CYPHER where she responds with lyrics such as:

I have deduced there is more to you than just an angry white dude/ who fantasizes about domestic violence / you couldn't honestly, possibly which to silence Hailie / Daddy's little princess whose brilliance is extinguished every time she two-steps to your mind-sodomizing rhymes / she dies inside each time you worship on the alter of vaginal slaughter ~ Mandy Mayhem, Shady XV Cxvpher response

Criticized for starting beef with Eminem to launch her own rap career, Mayhem responded by saying: 'It took me several months to decide to release the video - I mean, who am I? But I grew up on rap music, and it effected my sense of self as a young woman because these were my heroes and they were disrespecting me, and, now that I am an adult I feel a sense of responsibility to the millions of young women who listen to rap, and even love Eminem, and I want to inspire them to write, and let them know there are alternatives to listen to, and hope that my response will be the first of many from female emcees who are tired of violent bullies such as Eminem being the loudest voice in hip hop. We need some balance.'
