All India Inter University Boxing Championship (Men) inaugurated at LPU

JALANDHAR, India - March 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The second phase of All India Inter University Boxing Championship (Men) has been inaugurated at host Lovely Professional University. Being organized under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities and with support of Ministry of Youth Welfare & Sports, the championship has seen 210 boxing bouts since its opening. Near 950 boxers from 94 Indian universities will compete up to 4th March 2015, under 10 weight categories. Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr.) Raj Bahadur of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences had declared the championship open.

All of the participants are taking the championship as a boxing festival where the best practices of the game can be gained in an easy manner. Referee & Judge Co-ordinators Mr Lokender Painoli (Maharashtra), Mr Umesh Gupta (Allahabad), Mr K Giri Babu (Hyderabad) are of the common views that Championship arrangements at LPU are superb.  A light weight category competitor from VMU University Salem (Tamil Nadu), Coach Mohammad Tarique from University of Calcutta have great expectations to shine from here to next at international level.  LPU Super Heavy Weight boxer Gurpreet Singh is promising to be on the way to bring international medal after making glorious win in this championship.

Some of the results up to now are :

In a light fly weight category (46-49 kg):  Laxman of Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune defeated Rahul Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Manjit of Chaudhary Devi Lal University, Sirsa defeated MD Raja of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.

In a fly weight category (52-56 kg):  Manish of Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur defeated Vivek of Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut. Kimat of Kurukshetra University defeated Kivan of University of Mumbai.

In a Bantam weight category (56-60 kg):  Chirag of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak defeated Ajankiya of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith University, Varanasi. R Madhan of Anna University, Chennai defeated P Mahender of Osmania University, Hyderabad. Nagender of Jamia Milia Islamia of Delhi defeated Chandersen of APG Shimla University.

In a light weight category (60 kg+): Mahipal of Lovely Professional University defeated Mayank of University of Mumbai. Ajay of Himachal Pradesh University defeated Shakul of ITM University, Gwalior. Supal of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak defeated Azhar of Cochin University of Science & Technology.
