Mary York, Hosparus of Louisville Volunteer, will launch windowswithinproject.com

The website is devoted to documenting what hospice volunteers receive from their service experiences. Themes of wisdom, knowledge, compassion, beauty and connection have emerged via personal interviews, which are the cornerstones of the project.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - March 1, 2015 - PRLog -- The Windows Within Project originated from a desire to document the beautiful moments shared between patients and hospice volunteers. These unexpected and profound encounters noted by volunteers serve as a catalyst for defining, exploring and documenting life-changing connections. Universally, when the “windows within” patients are opened, the gifts discovered by volunteers include new understandings, perspectives and profound appreciations for what truly matters in life.

The new windowswithinproject.com websitewill feature monthly hospice volunteer Spotlight and Reflection posts. The Spotlight feature will present an in-depth look in to what inspires a volunteer to be of service to those in the care of hospice. The feature will also reveal profound insights from volunteers about wisdom gained from understanding and appreciating what is truly important in life. These insights often occur when a volunteer is simply and wholly present for patients during the end of life care experience.

See the inaugural Spotlight post here http://windowswithinproject.com/2015/03/spotlight-on-bill-carpenter/ with Mr. Bill Carpenter, Hosparus of Louisville Volunteer.

The Reflection feature will be a post citing various interactions with patients told from the perspective of the volunteer. These stories are sometimes poignant, often simplistic, yet they serve as an intimate and personal reminder of the beauty that is revealed through human connection.

Dee DeMaster, Hosparus of Louisville Volunteer, described the Windows Within Project this way: “I think a lot about how my volunteer experience effects how I live my life, but I have not articulated them before. What a very cool project you are doing and what you are learning and sharing will be profound!”

The goal of sharing the volunteer experiences via the Windows Within Project posts are to enlighten, to teach, inspire, and to encourage all to live more warm heartedly and with an abundance of compassion toward others. Another goal of the project is to promote the mission of hospice and aid with the recruitment and retention of volunteers.
