Local Businessman Jim McGee Files For Plano City Council, Seat 7

PLANO, Texas - Feb. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- With the news of Pat Gallagher’s decision to not run for re-election, Plano Council Seat 7 has opened up for candidates. With the filing deadline approaching on February 27, two candidates have surfaced in the race. The most recent, Jim McGee, is a familiar name in North Texas.

The longtime community leader and Plano resident officially filed Tuesday morning at City Hall.   “With 4 seats coming open on City Council, there will be a huge loss of experience and institutional knowledge.” said McGee. “My long time involvement in the development and life of Plano will make it seamless for me to step back into this important position”

McGee’s background spans 20 years of active involvement in local civic, education and political organizations. He currently sits on two Dallas Regional Chamber committees, the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC) Executive Board, and Plano Education Foundation Board. In his bid for City Council, he has resigned from his appointment to the Plano Board of Adjustments.

Previously, he has held the position as Chairman at of the Plano Chamber of Commerce, City of Plano Planning and Zoning Commission, Collin County Planning Board, and North Central Texas Workforce Development Board.

At last count, McGee has served as President, Chairman, Member of the Board or Member on over thirty State, County and Local organizations ranging from State Education Reform committee to the Keep Plano Beautiful Committee.


With his recent filing, it’s expected that he’ll announce further campaign details in the coming weeks.
