Youth Explore STEM Careers at SEM Link’s 5th Annual San Francisco Bay Area STEM Career Fair

OAKLAND, Calif. - Feb. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- On Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10:00am- 2:00 pm, Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc. (SEM Link) will host its 5^th Annual San Francisco Bay Area Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibition at Laney College Student Center.  The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Career Fair and Exhibition is the signature event for the Math and Science Career Academy. The annual event, which is free and open to the public, allows students to visit and move freely among exhibitor tables and activities.  STEM professionals and graduate students from organizations such as Clorox, the California Department of Transportation, (CalTrans), Pacific Gas and Electric Company (P G & E), Merritt Microscopy Program, University of California at San Francisco, among others will be there to share their passion for STEM with attendees, discuss their careers, conduct hands-on demonstrations and showcase real world applications of math and science. “If we are going to ensure that we create the pipeline for the future STEM workforce, it is important that we create opportunities for youth to meet and interact with STEM professionals and learn about STEM careers prior to their arrival on a college or university campus. ” stated Ms. Tokiwa. Smith, SEM Link Founder and Executive Director “Events like our STEM career fair provide a unique out of classroom learning experience for youth where they can learn about STEM and STEM careers directly from individuals that are working and studying in those fields.”
