SAN FRANCISCO - Feb. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- DANGEROUS BEAUTIES PRESENTS: AURA

SATURDAY, MARCH 21, 2015 San Francisco’s BRAVA THEATER

Since the beginning of time, powerful women have been the subject of myths and legends. They’ve been worshipped, feared, revered, canonized and burned at the stake. In the dazzling show Aura, more than a year in the making, Dangerous Beauties weave together dance and narrative with a highly theatrical flair, breathing life into the fearless female characters- both real and imagined- who’ve enchanted and scandalized every culture on earth.

The Dangerous Beauties are a collaborative collective of award-winning dancers and choreographers from the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. Their extensive repertoire encompasses ballet, jazz, modern, Middle Eastern and North African styles, both traditional and fused with a boundary-pushing contemporary flavor. Many members of the group are internationally known, performing and teaching around the world. Some are multi-disciplinary artists whose work includes backgrounds in theater and film, costuming and the visual arts.

Producer/Director Surreyya Hada says,
“In light of heated discussions of equality and feminism, we thought it was time to present a positive representation of fearless women in an entertaining way. Our dance shows are family-friendly and welcoming of all genders and lifestyles. We feel it is important to continue a dialogue and show the many facets and complexities of fearless, bold women throughout history.”

From the elemental Orishas to the myths of long-ago days, from the powerful Cleopatra to deadly Medusa, the audience will discover the power these women carried deep within and the magical strength which made them bold and fearless.

More than just a dance production, Aura is a thought provoking, transcendent feast for the senses. Prepare to be astonished, entertained and enlightened.
