MIAMI - Feb. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- The popular CowtownUSA exhibit returns March 12-April 5 to The Youth Fair with new additions, including a donkey-powered mill to grind sugar cane and twice as many milking cows and goats for hands-on bilingual demonstrations in making organic cheese, butter, ice cream and soap.

“The lesson we have seen our young fairgoers take home is that people and animals can share the earth and provide for one another,” said Robert Hohenstein, president and CEO of the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair & Exposition.

Three CowtownUSA sessions daily** will take place at The Youth Fair, where patrons can use their own hands to obtain milk from its source:

4, 6 and 8 p.m. daily March 12-April 5; except March 14, when the sessions begin at 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

**Note that The Youth Fair will take a breather and close its gates for two Mondays and two Tuesdays, March 16-17 and March 30-31.

Located in the World of Agriculture tent, CowtownUSA has grown to four milking cows and two milking goats that are part of a lesson in how to get milk from an udder. Kids growing up in a major metropolitan city especially will find Cowtown USA an exciting experience. The farm exhibit contains an old time creamery, where Fair patrons learn the process of making butter, cheese and ice cream with historic tools, such as a butter churn. A professional farmer will teach the difference between cow and goat milk. New to the exhibit is a donkey-powered mill for grinding cane sugar into cane syrup.

Now in its 64th year, The Youth Fair is ranked the largest fair in Florida and one of the top 35 fairs throughout North America. It attracts nearly 600,000 guests of all ages every year. The family experience comes packed with adrenaline-pumping rides, fun games, mouth-watering food stands, live outdoor concerts, sensational shows, and livestock and agricultural competitions. For the first time ever, the Youth Fair will be open 21 days instead of 18 days.

The Youth Fair is a not-for-profit, private organization that awards annually more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships and cash premiums and awards to local public, private, charter and home school students. To date, The Youth Fair has awarded well above $10 million to Miami-Dade students to help them achieve higher education. In 2014, it awarded $90,000 in college scholarships, including $7,000 to winners of Miami-Dade County Public School’s inaugural Elie Wiesel Foundation Prize in Ethics Essay Contest. The annual Youth Fair is the only venue where students can showcase their educational, art and science achievements all in one place and be rewarded for their efforts. More than 40,000 student projects are exhibited each year to more than half a million families, friends and fairgoers. Please visit http://www.thefair.me/
