Habit Burger Opens its Second Bergen County Restaurant in River Edge

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - Feb. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- A good burger should take you someplace—and I don’t mean a drive-thru window—so I was excited to sink my teeth into a piping hot patty at The Habit Burger Grill at the Fair Lawn Promenade (its second NJ location will open its doors in River Edge on Feb. 18). After all, Habit is a West Coast staple that’s been flipping beef since way back in 1969. And with the wind-chill what it is these days, I couldn’t wait to have a “California, here I come” moment.

Of course I went for their signature sizzler, the classic Charburger, which comes with mayonnaise, pickles, fresh tomato, lettuce, and caramelized onions on a toasted bun (tip: spring an extra buck and get it with cheese). It was delicious—super-moist and I was in LOVE with all the extra toppings. Sorry, Mickey D’s, these guys have you beat by a whopper.

Of course, what’s a burger without fries? And although these were not the best I’ve had, I was quickly distracted by my order of onion rings and tempura green beans (umm, tempura green beans!), which were served with a side yummy ranch dressing.

Also tasty was the garden salad with grilled Albacore tuna. The tuna was perfectly charred and the salad—fresh romaine, iceberg, and red leaf lettuces with Roma tomatoes, cucumbers, avocado, fresh sprouts, carrots, red onions and croutons—was a nice size and VERY fresh.

Equally impressive were the well-priced kids meal options—chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, or burger with your choice of fries, apple slices, or applesauce, a small soft drink, and a hamburger-shaped gummy candy (nice touch, guys) for just $3.95.

Total bill for our 5-person lunch? $31!

Quality food at beyond reasonable prices? Habit Burger might become a hard habit to break.
