By: HNTB Previously, Knobbe served as a senior project manager on large transit and highway projects, primarily in the Dallas and St. Louis areas. As project manager, he recently led a technical team to complete detailed design of the light rail system for the South Oak Cliff Line Section 3 in Dallas. “Stephen’s extensive background as an owner and consultant will allow him to serve agencies in the region with an unparalleled degree of professionalism and expertise,” said Michael Townes, HNTB national transit market sector leader. “HNTB’s growing transit practice is in demand across the nation. As cities in our Central Division develop plans and policies in the face of our nation’s infrastructure funding dilemma, a leader like Stephen should prove invaluable.” Knobbe has nearly 30 years of extensive engineering experience and nearly 20 years of experience managing complex, large-scale programs for various organizations. His expertise includes a variety of disciplines including program management and controls, contract administration and facility and rail maintenance. He has been affiliated with a number of industry organizations, including serving as a board member for both the Transit Coalition of North Texas and North Texas Commission. Additionally, he is the recipient of several honors and awards, including the Governor’s Award for Quality and Productivity from the State of Missouri. Knobbe earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
