HOUSTON - Feb. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- First Edition Design Publishing announced today that it has released Return To Earth, a new science-fiction novel by Dennis Calloway. The book is set in the year 2053, after a huge meteor—in the form of a rogue planet called Lycos—has partially destroyed the Earth. The plot centers around Tess Robinson and her efforts to save the small band of survivors stranded on the moon. There's a chance that they can live on Europa (a distant moon of Jupiter), but in order to make the long trip to Europa, they must return to the broken earth and survive not only the final destructive forces unleashed on the planet, but the barbaric survivors left behind.

“Return to Earth is a story of personal strength and perseverance in the face of tremendous physical and emotional danger,” said Calloway. “It’s also a great adventure - through the character of Tess, the reader gets to experience this epic quest from the Moon, to Jupiter, and Europa.”

The story starts some years prior to Lycos, when a deep space satellite accidentally captured data showing that Europa could possibly sustain human life. With the impending impact of Lycos, a decision was made to start construction of two moon bases and two Generation Space Ships; the Orion and the Cassiopeia. Through a national lottery, several hundred people are selected for travel to the moon and then onward to Europa, but things go terribly wrong almost from the start. Now, a couple of years later, the remaining survivors on the moon prepare to make the journey to Europa, but things are not as they seem.

The unbalanced moon base commander, Wilfred Soren, has his own feudal vision of life on the new world and is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure that he has no opposition, including leaving behind those he considers troublemakers. He and his allies successfully manipulate his enemies and take-off for Europa in the Cassiopeia, leaving behind Tess, a number of men, women and children, a moon base running out of power, food and supplies, and a ship with only enough fuel to return to Earth.

Return to Earth is being released globally in over 140 countries in multiple media types, including ebook, paperback, and hardcover.
