By: Ready Dress Go 100% of the donations provided by local businesses, organizations and individuals will serve teens during an extravagant event unmatched by other prom giveaways. Over $32,000 in merchandise, goods, and services were provided to prom-bound teens in 2014 – entirely free. More than 200 people attended last year’s event, including volunteers from local churches, University of Akron, Girl Scouts of America, United States Army, and Miss Ohio International. Heidi C., a volunteer and giveaway recipient, had the following to say about RDG’s events. “As a mom, RDG was a blessing, to say the least. There was no way I could afford to send my daughter to her Senior Prom without their help. These ladies fit her ready from head to toe. As a volunteer, seeing the girls come in, seemingly defeated at times, and watching them blossom into happy young ladies with excitement for life restored...that's an amazing feeling.” The 2015 giveaways will be held on April 11th at Relentless Church, 1878 Killian Road, Akron, OH 44312 and April 25th at Overtaken Church, 9124 State Route 44, Mantua, Ohio 44255. Ready Dress Go started in 2011 as a project to provide prom dresses to teens whose families were financially challenged. Five years later, they have outfitted over 480 teens and service members and have provided an economic solution for many families. Since many teenagers today are being raised by single parents, grandparents and agencies on a fixed income, prom and other formal events can be a stressful time. Ready Dress Go aims to alleviate that stress. For more information please visit www.readydressgo.org or www.facebook.com/ End
