CYPRESS, Calif. - Feb. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- A major new technology has been developed by Dr. Arthur Tilford and Phil Zimmermann, which could enable the world’s crops to grow under finely tuned sunlight with the harmful UV and IR rays filtered out.

Light is vital for plants to survive and grow. However, only a very specific range of the spectrum is most beneficial to plants and this varies from one species to another and at different phases of the plant's growth cycle.

Dr. Arthur Tilford has developed a unique method to filter out the unwanted rays. His major breakthrough came when he found that specific wavelengths of light can be optimized for each type of plant. This groundbreaking development potentially provides every type of plant with the ability to respond to a custom recipe of light. The implications for agriculture are enormous as this new technology can provide a way to greatly increase growth and yields.

A leading world expert in satellite dish technology and a Master Gardener, Dr. Tilford has long recognized that there is a way to harness wavelengths of light to create ideal growing conditions in any environment.

Speaking about the solar photon filter technology, which is known as SPF360, co-inventor Phil Zimmermann said: “Helping to dramatically increase plant yields and offer a way to grow crops in arid or harsh terrain only helps with world food security.”

An ideal setup for the SPF360 system is a growing chamber built within a re-purposed ocean cargo container that allows for the total control of the growing environment.

Geosphere Solar Systems is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to simplify the design of the filter module in order to reduce manufacturing costs and make the technology more accessible.
