Bay Area Rapper makes a statement with new album

Successfully staying true to his local roots in Oakland, CA and remaining a household name in the Bay Area rap scene for more than half a decade, CJ is someone you should have already heard about. With the release of his newest album, entitled “Peace & Love”, CJ has truly honed his craft to the level of a breakthrough artist.

HBK CJ's breed of rap is something different, because he focuses on peace but is not afraid to touch on even the most sensitive subjects. Many times on his “Peace & Love” album you'll hear CJ talking about positive images and being different is nothing new for CJ. Unlike many hip hop artists who utilize a manufactured or managed look and feel to appeal to the masses, CJ has no artificial image front whatsoever. He puts his image in his own words by saying this “I don’t need an image, I am just me. I let my music paint the picture of what I was feeling, that’s what lets people connect with me.”

He's a kid from Oakland who chose to do something positive with his life and has stayed true to his goal of making a career out of music. “Peace & Love” the album has a song for everyone and grooves to keep the listener engaged. From the celebratory mood in the opening track “Dear World” to “L” where CJ opens people up to the idea that they only compete with themselves and that they need to relax, to the experimental “Yesterday” featuring Iamsu! & Jay Ant which can instantly remind listeners of Andre 3000 on his The Love Below album.
