Leader Six Presents Award to American Legion Auxiliary

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Nolen Bivens, President of Leader Six, Inc. had the honor of presenting the Outstanding Contributions to the Arts Award to the American Legion Auxiliary at the 2014 Americans for the Arts National Arts Awards, held at Cipriani in New York in October 2014.

Janet Jefford, National President for the American Legion Auxiliary, received the award on behalf of the organization.  According to Bivens, the award was bestowed on the organization for its work in helping veterans heal through the arts, with a focus on ALA’s co-sponsorship of the Annual National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.

Bivens himself holds the work done by the ALA particularly close to his heart with good reason.  A Brigadier General (ret.) in the United States Army, Bivens has placed a particular focus on helping veterans through the arts in his post-military life.  He co-chairs the National Leadership Advisory Committee for the National Initiative for Arts and Health in the Military, and has also been a speaker at Aspen Seminar for Leadership in the Arts.

As President of Leader Six, Bivens has worked to help create leadership development solutions utilizing art-critical qualities such as vision and innovative thinking.  According to Leader Six’s website, one of its core values centers around innovation and change-friendly strategies and solutions, both of which are core components to successful application of the arts in the healing process.
