“Sometimes we have to go out there and learn by our own mistakes, and some of us have to go out there and die” said Shaddix.

The quote comes in reference to punk rock icon Nick Traina, the beloved son of best-selling author Danielle Steel. Nick died tragically September 20^th, 1997 of a drug overdose.

“I believe my addictions straight goal, is for me to be in a casket” Shaddix said.

Also included in the interview were topics such as living a sober lifestyle in the mad world of rock n’ roll, the newly released 8^th studio album by Papa Roach called F.E.A.R., and how having a support group is key in recovery.

Alcoholism and addiction run closer to many of us than we realize. Chances are, we probably know someone who seems to have it all together. In reality, they may be suffering from any one of these issues, even depression. It is important that we get the word out to as many people as possible that there is help out there. Addiction, alcoholism, or depression is nothing to be ashamed of. When we can truly be honest and surrender the battle we so often fight against ourselves, a great weight is lifted from upon us. This is the start of recovery. This is the start of a new life.
