International adventure film maker Justine Curgenven showing footage of her latest film "Kayaking the Aleutians" with special guest Greenland style paddler James Roberts presenting "Greenland Bound: A Paddler's Pilgrimage".

WYANDOTTE, Mich. - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Riverside Kayak Connection will be hosting adventure filmmakers, Justine Curgenven, from Wales, and James Roberts, from Canada, for a presentation of “Kayaking The Aleutians” and “Greenland Bound: A Paddler’s Pilgrimage”.  Justine and James will show footage of their films and tell behind the scenes stories of their adventures on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 starting at 7:30 pm at Portofino Restaurant and Banquet Facility, 3455 Biddle Avenue, Wyandotte.

In 2014, explorers Justine Curgenven and Sarah Outen set out to paddle 2,500 km along the remote and stormy Aleutian Islands, stretching from Russia to Alaska. Alone for 101 days in one of the windiest, roughest places on earth, these two women were swept away from land by unknown currents, pounded by rough seas and approached by bears.  Justine captured their journey in the film “Kayaking The Aleutians.”

The sport of kayaking has its roots in the craft and skills the Inuit people needed to hunt and survive in Arctic waters. In 2014, Canadians James Manke and James Roberts went to learn more about the Greenlandic people and Qajaq culture, and to participate in the legendary Greenland National Qajaq Championships. In their short film “Greenland Bound: A Paddler’s Pilgrimage”, they share their experiences with the people whose ancestors kayaked for survival.

Justine is an award winning adventure filmmaker and expedition sea kayaker who was named one of the UK’s top 20 living explorers. Her expeditions include circumnavigating the south island of New Zealand, Tasmania and the Queen Charlotte islands.

James Roberts is co-owner with his wife, Dympna, of Ontario Sea Kayak Centre in Parry Sound, Ontario. He is passionate about traditional Inuit skills, and founded Canada’s only traditional paddling event, Ontario Greenland Camp.

Admission is Free and RSVP is required as seating is limited. For more information about Justine Curgenven, visit her website www.cackletv.com.  For more information about the presentation and to RSVP contact Riverside Kayak Connection (734)285-2925 or info@riversidekayak.com.
