The third book in Christopher Nuttall’s bestselling Bookworm fantasy series is published today

DARTFORD, U.K. - Feb. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Elsewhen Press, an independent UK publisher specialising in Speculative Fiction, is delighted to announce the publication today of Bookworm III – The Best Laid Plans, the third book in the bestselling Bookworm series by Christopher Nuttall. The first book in the series won the Gold Award for Adult Fiction in the 2013 Wishing Shelf Independent Book Awards and the German translation rights were acquired by Random House for publication in January 2015 under their Blanvalet imprint (with the title Die Bibliothek der Schwarzen Magie 1 – Die Wissende).

Bookworm III – The Best Laid Plans, available to pre-order as an eBook since the beginning of February, has already reached the top 20 in the Amazon Fantasy and Action & Adventure bestseller charts in North America, Australia, the UK and Europe, (top 10 in Australia and Germany).

The story follows straight on from Bookworm II – The Very Ugly Duckling, with Elaine and Johan intent on tracking down the Witch- King. But as they are preparing to leave Golden City, with Daria and Cass, Elaine is arrested by two Inquisitors on the orders of a new ‘Emperor’. She resists and is hit with a powerful spell that forces her to concentrate all her effort on protecting her mind from its intrusion. Taken to the palace she finds that the Grand Sorceress has been removed and the Throne has accepted an heir to the Empire. Realising this has to be the work of the Witch-King, Elaine must defeat the spell that is eating away at her defences if she is to escape and destroy him. Meanwhile, Johan, Daria and Cass are trying to find a way to get to Elaine and break her out of the cell in which she is being held. The Golden City is still widely devastated from the disastrous battle for power that followed the death of the previous Grand Sorcerer. The recent escalating breakdown of social order can only be made worse by an Emperor who imposes martial law while building a huge army. The Privy Councillors and Heads of the Great Houses succumb to the power of the new Emperor. It is up to Elaine and her friends, with some unexpected help, to prevent an all-out war.

Christopher Nuttall has been planning sci-fi books since he learnt to read. Born and raised in Edinburgh, Chris created an alternate history website and eventually graduated to writing full-sized novels. Studying history independently allowed him to develop worlds that hung together and provided a base for storytelling. After graduating from university, Chris started writing full-time. As an indie author he has self-published a number of novels, but this is his seventh fantasy to be published by Elsewhen Press.
