Feb. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- An aphrodisiac is a substance that, when consumed, increases sexual desire, Something, such as a drug or food, having such an effect. The name comes from the Greek word aphrodisiakon, i.e. "sexual, aphrodisiac ( or “Aphrodite”, the Greek goddess of love). In Ayurveda, an aphrodisiac is one which rejuvenates the sexual organs, thereby enhancing sexual performance and fertility. The treatment adopted in Ayurveda to increase libido, quality and quantity of semen, duration of erection and to treat infertility effectively is known as Vaajikarana. Vaaji ('Vaaji'=Horse) Karana(To make)-The therapy which increases the strength of a man to perform sexual act, like a horse. These medicines are said to give one the strength and potency of a horse. They are said to increase libido, duration of hard erection ,sperm count and sperm motility. Vajikaran means producing a horse's vigor, particularly the animal's great capacity for sexual activity in the individual. In Ayurveda Vaajikarana Tantra ,there are description of medicines to increase the erection of penis during sex and also there is description of aphrodisiac/Vaajikaraka medicines formulations to increase the hardness and length of the penis .There are descriptions about penis erection compared to as like as horse, elephant, bull ,goat, donkey etc. In Vaajikarana Tantra(one among the 8 branches of Ayurveda) there are formulations for men to make them overcome the predicaments related to impotency and also to make them able to have orgasm with long hard penile erection for an increased duration . As per Charak Samhita-By proper use Vajikaraka ousadhi(Medicines), one becomes endowed with good physique, potency, strength, complexion and sexually exhilarated and potent like an 8-year-old horse All the aphrodisiac/vaajikaraka medicines are categorized in 3 sects as per the purpose and results 1 To increase the sperm and semen volume- e.g. Chlorophytum borivilianum(safed musli), Shatavari (Asperagus racemosus), Bala (Sida cordifolia), Vidari (Diascorea bulbifera), Jeewanti (Leptadonia reticulata), Jivak (substitute Pueraria tuberosa), Madhuk (Madhuca indika), Draksha (Vitis vinifera), Phalgu (Ficus hispida), Pippali (Piper longum), Kapikachchhu (Mucuna prurie), Ghee (clarified butter) and Milk etc. 2 Sexual stimulant – velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens), Gokshura seed pod (Tribulus terrestris), Ashwagandha(Withania somnifera), Kuchila(Strychnos nux-vomica ,Gunja/Ratti(Abrus precatorius), onion (Allium cepa) , garlic (Allium sativum) etc. and many formulations 3 Potency to produce offspring.
