PITTSBURGH - Feb. 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Charleroi, Pennsylvania (February 10, 2015) – This week Pyrex, America’s foremost glass bakeware producer, represents Pennsylvania manufacturing on the editorial series This Built America.

Entering its 100th year, Pyrex can be found in 8 out of 10 American kitchens.  The company produces over 40 million pieces annually, and is also popular in overseas markets such as Australia and Japan. Pyrex knows that it needs to constantly innovate to keep consumers loyal to the brand. “The greatest challenge that we’ve had at Pyrex is frankly meeting the demand the consumers have put on this brand,” said Kris Malkoski, president of North America for World Kitchen—Pyrex’s parent company.

This is a good problem for Pyrex to have, as they steadily grow the workforce. While innovation of products keeps customers happy, Pyrex also prides itself on the  continuous quality produced by the employees. As the second-largest employer in town, Pyrex senior staff members operate a successful apprenticeship program that ensures that quality never wanes through generations of production. "The coolest thing about this job is to pass on information," explains Pyrex apprentice trainer and supervisor of 30 years Clint Cooper. "Skill never dies."

Pyrex joins a national movement in This Built America that is devoted to supporting American companies and American-made products. AOL is proud to support the effort along with sponsor Ford Trucks. Through the year, the editorial and video teams will explore 50 states in 50 weeks to bring 50 stories of the people who are bringing back manufacturing to America. The platform is produced in coordination with Man Made Content.
