The Rhythm Express Features Ammoye on “Midnight Confessions!”

Canada’s leading Caribbean-Urban songstress, Ammoye, teams with The Rhythm Express to record “Midnight Confessions” as a part of TRE’s (The Rhythm express) multi-racial music collective.

TORONTO - Feb. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- In observance of Black History Month in Toronto and Canada, and by extension Reggae Month internationally, the collective has chosen February to release their special edition of recordings, the first being Ammoye’s cover of Phyllis Dillon’s 1971 “Midnight Confessions.”  Dillon’s version was a cover of American Pop band, The Grass Roots top 5 international hit of 1967 (written by Lou T. Josie).

Ammoye, who is a two time JUNO Award nominee for Best Reggae Recording welcomed the opportunity to lend her vocals to the project saying “Phyllis Dillon played a huge role in my music career.  Not only did I listen to her growing up, I’ve always admired her phrasing and delivery so it’s an honor for me to be included in this project.”

Musicians from far and wide contributed to the success of Ammoye’s recording.  Jamaica’s treasured guitarist Ernest Ranglin is joined by Jesse ‘Dubmatix’ King on bass, Everton ‘Pablo’ Paul on drums, Shane Forrest on rhythm guitar and engineer, Selena Evangeline on lead guitar, Gavin Hope and Evangeline share backing vocals arranged by Ammoye.  The entire project was produced and arranged by keyboardists Bill King and Jesse King.

Dillon is one of the most celebrated female singers from Jamaica with an extensive catalog of impactful music.  Some of her influences include Connie Francis, Francis Page and Dionne Warwick.  Similarly, Ammoye’s catalog is growing and includes hits such as “Lost in Love,” “Baby It’s You” and “Radio.”  As Jesse King says, “Ammoye’s catalog, as well as her drive and passion for performance made her an easy choice to include on this project.  I think Phyllis would be happy to hear what Ammoye has done with “Midnight Confessions.””

Some of Ammoye’s vocal experience comes in the range of genre’s she covers (Reggae, Dancehall, R&B, Gospel, Soul, Fusion and Pop), as well as the diversity of producers and projects she’s worked with.  She has been featured on MTV Canada, and has performed for audiences at leading music festivals such as JamBana (produced by Jones and Jones Productions), the Calgary Reggae Festival and the Montreal International Reggae Festival.  Additional accolades include appearances on CTV (one of Canada’s largest national networks) as well as the CBC (Canada’s largest radio network).  Ammoye has also shared the stage with Michael Bublé, Ziggy Marley and Byron Lee & The Dragonaires to name a few.

Rhythm Express Music has released this song, and the entire compilation project through Universal Music Publishing Group.
