Free to Breathe Appoints Sherie Reinders as Top Management Executive

MADISON, Wis. - Feb. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Free to Breathe announced today the appointment of Sherie Reinders as the organization’s lead executive. As Chief Operating Officer, Reinders will provide the day-to-day leadership of the organization, which is working to double lung cancer survival by 2022. Reinders will report to the President and Board of Directors.

“Sherie has shown impeccable leadership for Free to Breathe, acting as interim CEO since May of 2014. She has an incredible commitment to improving our organization and advancing the mission,” said President, Joan Schiller. “We are confident that she will lead the organization in ways that will make a significant impact on those facing lung cancer.”

Reinders will oversee an organization that unites lung cancer survivors, advocates, healthcare professionals and researchers in the common goal of ensuring that surviving lung cancer is the expectation, not the exception. Free to Breathe hosts over 40 nationwide fundraising events each year, and has funded over $4.3 million dollars in critical lung cancer research since 2005.

“I joined Free to Breathe because, after losing my mom to lung cancer, I wanted to do more for the cause,” said Reinders. “I am passionately driven to the mission of Free to Breathe and excited to leverage my professional experiences to further our work to defeat lung cancer.

Reinders joined Free to Breathe in 2011 and brings 15 years of management experience in organizational development, human resources, executive coaching and project management in both the nonprofit and private sectors. Prior to working at Free to Breathe, Reinders was the Director of Human Resources at Agrace HospiceCare, a nationally recognized nonprofit in south central Wisconsin.
