Former Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Captain Bill Gill announced his candidacy for Spotsylvania County Sheriff in the November 2015 Election.

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. - Feb. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Bill Gill has served locally as a law enforcement officer for 19 years serving 16 years in Spotsylvania County, working his way through the ranks from Deputy to Captain.  Bill is a graduate from Chancellor High School and earned his Bachelor Degree in criminal justice from Old Dominion University, He is currently a Lieutenant at the University of Mary Washington Police Department.

Some of Bill’s accomplishments are:

*Development and implementation of the active shooter program in Spotsylvania County Schools

*Co-created DARE Day

*Developed the youth summer activity league

“The people of Spotsylvania should expect a high standard of ethics in law enforcement, that’s why I have entered the race.  I believe if you honor the oath and earn the respect of the community, trust is inevitable.”

Bill’s experience as a public servant and a leader in the community has given him valuable insight into the needs of Spotsylvania County. Key issues Bill plans to address are school safety, drug enforcement, leadership, organizational and fiscal management.  Bill will be seeking the Republican nomination.
