Father of Four Young Children Develops System Which Can Double a Toddler's Reading Age

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Feb. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Many parents are keen on the idea of giving their children a head start in education by teaching them to read at home. For Jim Yang, a father of four young children, this desire has led to the development of a simple but highly effective program for teaching young children to read. The Children Learning Reading system, which is now available online, focuses on using phonemic awareness instructions to help children develop their reading skills; enabling many toddlers to develop a reading age which is double their chronological age.

Phonemic awareness instruction teaches children to recognize phonemes (the smallest units of sound used in speech) and how they are written. The traditional approach of teaching children to read by getting them to gradually recognize simple words is quite hard work. A lot of children don't make good progress, are put of the idea of learning to read, and end up with poor reading skills in their later school life. In contrast, once children learn to speak, their phonemic awareness skills can be developed, at first orally, and then through reading.

He backs up his opinion by quoting the findings of national reading panel: "The effects of systematic early phonics instruction were significant and substantial in kindergarten and the 1st grade, indicating that systematic phonics programs should be implemented at those age and grade levels.
