Speed Dating at 70 – A New Wrinkle in the Search for Love

NEW YORK - Feb. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Speed dating for the 70+ generation arrives this month in towns across America.

It’s all part of the Valentine’s Day launch of The Age of Love, a new documentary that offers “a touching and funny look into the lives of seniors who just want to find love.” (Huffington Post)

The film kicks off its nationwide grassroots screening campaign—which will include many local senior speed dating events—in cities from Juneau to Tampa.

The Age of Love follows the adventures of a group of older adults in Rochester, NY who sign up for an unprecedented speed dating event for 70- to 90-year-olds. Fearlessly candid about their needs and desires, these WWII babies soon discover how the search for love changes—or doesn’t change—from first love to the far reaches of life. Shattering stereotypes about older hearts, the film entertainingly explores the undimmed passions that live on beneath wrinkled skin and thinning hair. As one 74-year-old speed dater puts it, “No one, not even my children, asks me what’s in my heart anymore.”

Winner of the Paley Center Doc Pitch Competition and awarded a Fledgling Fund grant—for its “potential to change hearts and minds” in American culture—The Age of Love premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival and was featured at the AARP National Expo in Boston. It will screen in venues from Sweden to Singapore in 2015.
