From chauffeur booker to ‘The Voice’

For many people the thought of turning their passion into some something bigger, seems like a distant dream but not for 19 year old Vikesh Champaneri of Wembley, London who is now one step closer to achieving his.
Vikesh works for Airport Executive, a chauffeur and airport transfers Company as a booker and has been singing for almost 12 years now. When asked how it felt to go from the office to the BBC studios he said “It’s an unusual transition but I love it! I was only doing it to see how far I’d get, never thought I’d make it”
Vikesh applied via the website but it hasn’t been that easy he explains “there’s a long selection process involved. Ranging from the open audition all the way to blind auditions but my friends and family have been really supportive”.
He started as an apprentice for Airport Executive a year and a half ago and his colleagues are delighted to see him hit the big time. Chris who has worked with him since he started said “To date no-one's done an Alan Sugar and told him he's fired. Vikesh has proved to be a tremendous addition to the team, and his vibrant and infectious manner certainly help to liven up the office and makes coming to work less painful even on a very bad day. Everyone in the company is rooting for him”
He can’t give away too much but he has said it’s definitely one to watch. You can catch Vikesh try to grab the attention of the judges Rita Ora, Sir Tom Jones, Ricky Wilson and will.i.am on Saturday on BBC ONE at 19:15, repeated on BBC Three on Sunday at 19:10 or it will also be available on BBC iPlayer.
