Dr. Thomas P. Jacob becomes board certified in Geriatric Psychiatry

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Feb. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Thomas P. Jacob, M.D. has been board certified in Geriatric Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc. (ABPN). Certification entails rigorous training and achieving the gold standard in each of the six core competencies of patient care, medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, professionalism, systems-based practice, and practice-based learning and improvement to practice high quality specialized geriatric psychiatry.

Dr. Jacob is also board certified in Adult Psychiatry by American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, in Addiction Medicine by American Board of Addiction Medicine. His medical practice is located at The Atrium Executive Suites at 8695 College Parkway, Suite 1191, Fort Myers, FL 33919, where services include psychiatric evaluation, psychotherapy and medication management. He has been practicing psychiatry in Southwest Florida since 2008, specializing in forgetfulness, memory problems, and psychiatric symptoms in medically complex and addiction issues in seniors.

Following medical school and general internal medicine post graduate studies in India, Dr. Jacob completed an externship at St. Elizabeths Hospital, Washington DC. He also completed an internship at Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at West Virginia University School of Medicine in Charleston, WV and a residency in psychiatry at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL. Most recently, he completed a geriatric psychiatry postdoctoral program at the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland.
