Celebrity Basketball Event To Benefit Young Lives

NEW YORK - Feb. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- The Darby Foundation is on a mission to enrich young lives on a huge scale. The Dream Big All Star Celebrity Basketball Challenge will benefit youth by instilling hope and opportunity. The event which is scheduled for Feb 7 will be hosted in Hempstead, Long Island. The event will feature a Celebrity Basketball Challenge comprising several former NBA Players such as Speedy Claxton. Claxton won a championship in 2003 as a member of the San Antonio Spurs. Claxton a ten year veteran of the NBA played alongside the likes of David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. The event will also feature Celebrity guest appearances from stage and screen.

"This event is meant to benefit everyone in our local community, and is open to families and people of all ages," according to Chris Arceneaux Ceo and Founder of the Darby Foundation. Arceneaux a professional golfer started the Darby Foundation which is a non-profit organization whose goal is to instill great core values, and teach youth skills through Education, Recreation, Health & Fitness and Community Service.

The event will be hosted by Doug Mills, Hank Williams and Chris Arceneaux. The event will kick-off with the DREAM BIG All-Star Kids Basketball Game at 10:00am, then a DREAM BIG Symposium from 11:30am-12:30pm consisting of an empowerment panel discussion. The panel includes Supt. Dr. Deborah Wortham, Dr. Tyrone Bennett, Motivational Speaker Dr. Lonise Bias, Producer/Actor Dwayne DL Clarke, and Film Producer Emelyn Stuart.

The DREAM BIG All-Star Celebrity Basketball Game commences at 1:00pm. DJ Ihuti Alonzo Hodge will spin throughout the event. In addition the New York Islanders will provide their Fan-Fest prize wheel, Mascot and Ice Girls. Special performances by musical group "Exit 21," musical artist "Paris," and the "ABGS Middle School Choir" at half-time.
