Soul Power University, a collaborative project between American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and Georgia's Love Under Fire Campaign, presents a revolutionary course seeking to advance social and political change through educating and training citizens in the Gandhian philosophy and methods of Satyagraha (insistence of love and truth).
By completion of the course, adult students will be able to: Lead a practical 4 step campaign system for a social justice matter of their concern as practiced by Gandhi and Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to bring about groundbreaking consequences for the cause of equality, justice, freedom and peace.
The Vision of Soul Power University is to grow to an international accredited institution teaching the principles, philosophies, doctrines, methods and practices of Satyagraha to a new generation of leaders who will be apt to take our world in a new direction back to love, truth, peace and justice. In so doing, we aim to carry forth the ministries of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. into the new millenium and beyond.
The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is a nearly 100 year old Quaker organization that promotes lasting peace with justice, as a practical expression of faith in action. Drawing on continuing spiritual insights and working with people of many backgrounds, they nurture the seeds of change and respect for human life that transform social relations and systems. Founded in the crucible of World War I by Quakers who aimed to serve both humanity and country while being faithful to their commitment to nonviolence, AFSC has worked throughout the world in conflict zones, in areas affected by natural disasters, and in oppressed communities to address the root causes of war and violence. www.afsc.org
Love Under Fire Inc. is a Georgia based grassroots advocacy campaign for marriage equality began in 2012. The hallmark of the organization has been in raising the public consciousness on the universality of love and viewing the state marriage ban against TLGB citizens as an affront to human and civil liberties. Lately, the organization has pressured supportive state legislators to begin a repeal of the state marriage ban and partners with other like organizations in the cause of civil and human rights using the spirit of love and truth. www.facebook.com/
