Roxtec Seals Deal with Daylighting Systems Manufacturer

TULSA, Okla. - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- Solatube Daylighting Systems manufactures natural lighting systems that bring sunlight into the interior spaces of buildings.  Solatube systems consist of large light conduits, made of special aluminum tubes that direct and convey light into buildings.

The lighting tubes often pass through various parts of a structure, including the interior fire walls of buildings that must be safeguarded against the risk of fire, such as schools, offices, factories, hospitals, homes and even police cells.  When penetrating a fire wall, Solatube faced the challenge of maintaining the same fire protection standard at each point where lighting tubes had been installed.

To resolve this challenge, Solatube worked with cable and pipe sealing specialist Roxtec to design and test custom fire collars that would fit the large light conduits and provide optimal protection against fire.  Solatube chose to work with Roxtec for their ability to manufacture custom-fitting products, as well as to perform testing that ensured fire safety standards were met.
