Music Ensemble Puts Young Musicians In Driver’s Seat For February 6th Concert

BOSTON - Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Symphony Nova—the fellowship training program for young professional musicians—is presenting “Laboratory One” on Friday February 6^th from 6:30-8pm at Old South Church in Copley Square. Not your typical concert, the program will be an entirely new invention conceived by the Symphony Nova Fellows. Complete with music, lighting, and set design, the Nova Fellows were instructed to create a completely new concert experience from conception to execution. February 6^th’s program will be the first of two laboratory concerts held this year during Symphony Nova’s season.

The Laboratory concerts are all part of the Symphony Nova Fellowship—a seven-month (October 2014—April 2015) immersive experience filled with entrepreneurial training from the Arts and Business Council of Greater Boston, business planning from Boston Private Bank and Trust, and education performance outreach opportunities in various schools around the Boston area.

“With the proliferation of iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, YouTube, and Amazon, the public is consuming more music than ever before,” says Assistant Conductor and General Manager, Michael Reichman. “Yet, more and more classical musicians remain un(der)-employed and fail to find artistically meaningful work,” Reichman remarks. “Symphony Nova wants to bridge the profound disconnect between these two realities for future generations of aspiring musicians.” Founding Music Director, Lawrence Isaacson has served for many years on faculty at the Boston Conservatory. “Every year, graduating student come in my office just before graduating and freak out because they feel so unprepared for the ‘real world,’” said Isaacson. “With this Nova Fellowship, I want young musicians to realize their education doesn’t have to end once a diploma is in their hands.”
