Mom2Mom KMC to Host Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) Training

 
LANDSTUHL, Germany - Jan. 29, 2015 - PRLog -- LANDSTUHL, Germany: Mom2Mom KMC is pleased to be hosting the Healthy Children’s Center for Breastfeeding's Advanced Issues in Lactation Practice: Advanced Nurse Lactation Consultant (ANLC) and Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) Certification program. The course is open to all CLCs and IBCLCs. Those without a current RN license are required to attend the prerequisite Maternal and Infant Assessment training. Both courses will be held at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center. The prerequisite M & I Assessment course will take place March 25-­27. The ANLC/ALC course will be held March 30-­April 3.

From Healthy Children’s Center for Breastfeeding:

"This interactive course provides IBCLCs and CLCs with the opportunity to earn advanced certification in lactation management while verifying the insight, knowledge and skills essential to the development and implementation of management strategies for complex problems related to breastfeeding and human lactation. Participants will examine cases, and develop management strategies using knowledge of psychology, sociology, infant development, gender studies, professional interrelations and ethics. The Advanced Issues in Lactation Practice (ANLC/ALC) and Maternal and Infant Assessment courses are both recognized by ANCC as Nursing Skills Competency Programs. The ANLC course provides 45 contact hours of continuing education credit for RNs and CLCs, 34 for RDs, and 39L and 6E CERPs for IBCLCs. The M & I course provides 20 contact hours for RNs and CLCs, 14 contact hours for RDs, and 20L CERPs for IBCLCs.

Mom2Mom KMC is dedicated to providing support, encouragement, and knowledgeable assistance in a safe environment to breastfeeding families in the KMC. Through a volunteer network of peer mentors and lactation professionals, Mom2Mom caters to the unique needs of families within a military community. In addition to individualized support, Mom2Mom offers opportunities for parents to connect online and face­to­face at weekly Breastfeeding Cafés, Open House events, and the annual Big Latch­On celebration.

Registration is open and class size is limited! Regular Early Bird tuition including exam fee is $695, and group discounts are available. This course is approved for use with MyCAA funding for eligible military spouses. Please register by February 15.
