HIGHLAND, Ind. - Jan. 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Bosak Honda Highland is northwest Indiana's go-to dealership for drivers hunting for news on the Honda brand, so their showroom must be packed after the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. There, Honda unveiled quite a few new fuel-saving technologies, making headlines around the world.

There is no doubt that the Honda FCV Concept stole the show, but it's important to not let that overshadow Honda's other announcements. While Honda's futuristic fuel-cell vehicle and its improved battery size and power capacity are certainly noteworthy, it will be some time before the hydrogen fueling infrastructure comes close to being as common as gas stations.

But Honda's prepared for the middle ground between gas-powered cars and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles: they've announced a new electric car and a new plug-in hybrid for 2018. Honda has yet to specify which vehicles will receive these new powertrains, but it is likely that they will be on smaller vehicles like the Fit, Crosstour, Accord, or Civic—or perhaps on some new, unannounced model.

In addition to the hybrid and electric options, Honda let out a bit of news that amateur racing fans have likely been waiting to hear for some time: turbocharged engines will be produced starting this year. There's no news yet on which vehicles will sport Honda's new 4-cylinder turbocharged powertrains, but they could easily find homes on anything from the Civic to the CR-V.

For anyone thinking that this is a pretty diverse selection of announcements, Honda's Executive Vice President John Mendel agrees, "no other automaker in the world has the depth of R&D know-how and experience to create such a diverse array of advanced technology products, let alone bring them to market."

Readers looking to learn more about Honda's current alternative fuel options or the future of hybrid, electric, and turbocharged cars have been asked to contact the sales team at Bosak Honda Highland. They stock the full Honda lineup at their dealership and will be some of the first to know about any future models.
