5 Ways having an Insurance Agent saves you money- in the long run

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Jan. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- On June 20th, 2014, one of my newest clients called me to thank me. This does not normally happen. He was one who I did not save money. I had increased his coverages, made sure that all of his possessions were properly covered- even increased his deductibles.

He bought insurance from me not because he saved money, but I had provided value. And now he was calling to tell me that he would never leave my agency.

You see on June 5th, Sioux Falls experienced a massive hailstorm. Homes, autos, boats, garages, and cabins all over were damaged. Hundreds of millions of dollars in damage in 15 minutes.

His 6 cars, home, lake cabin, and outbuildings all had damage.

Previously, he had that insurance that you can call and in 15 minutes, they can save you hundreds of dollars. His brother still had that insurance.

On June 15th, My client already had a check in his hand. He had made one phone call to submit the claim for all of his autos, toys, outbuildings, home, and cabin. He paid a $1500 deductible out of the check- the deductible on his home. All of his other covered possessions had $500-$1000 deductibles- none of which he had to pay- because our policy covers all claims with one deductible.

He had already done the math. On the vehicles alone he saved $3000 in deductibles. Adding in the toys and the other buildings, he had saved over $7000 dollars from his old policies.

He also saved time. His brother had to make 4 phone calls to make 4 claims. He still had not seen a check, and had to wait another two weeks before his cars were even looked at. His brother paid out a total of $10,000 in deductibles. On the date of this writing- almost 7 months later, two of his vehicles have yet to be repaired.

My client not only thanked me, but gave me permission to tell his story. He is telling it all over SE South Dakota. He also thought of these five ways having a personal agent like me is better, and saves you money in the long run.

1. One phone call to make a claim, no matter how many items are affected

2. One agent that knows and lives in the area where I am insured

3
. One deductible

4. One policy

5. Knowledge of how the whole insurance package functions together and the coverages that make sense for the area.

I could not have said it any better. It is true that the phone call and quote companies can save you money on premium. However, the value of having a personal insurance agent comes at claim time, as is shown in this story.

The best thing that you can do is what this young man did. He came into my office for a complete review of his insurance program. I explained what his coverages were, where he had gaps, and where he was over-insured. I suggested coverages that made sense for him and his family. At the end of the day, it made sense for him to change.

And he called me on that day to thank me. And he still is, because he has encouraged many people to call my agency so I could give them the same helpful advice.
